We have been offering expert training in stakeholder participation, facilitation and research techniques for nearly 20 years and our courses are always supported by a minimum of two trainers and high quality course materials.

Good Practice Stakeholder Participation is the definitive foundation course for environmental managers and researchers.

This intensive three-day course will equip you with the necessary skills to understand, design and run effective participation processes either in a research context or in live participation projects. We will explain the principles and concepts of knowledge exchange, train you in practical facilitation skills and process design, and help you explore the benefits and challenges of involving end users. Our training also includes advice on practical matters such as equipment needs, output management, and venue requirements.

We’ve delivered in-house stakeholder participation training for more than 40 organisations including the Wildlife and Wetland Trust, Queens University Belfast, Scottish Natural Heritage, Dorset County Council, the Marine Management Organisation, Jersey State Government, the Tyndall Centre for Climate Research UK and DEFRA.

During the course we’ll provide you with the opportunity to practice skills and receive constructive feedback from the other participants and trainers, and before leaving we’ll provide an opportunity for you to identify processes and workshops where you can practice your new skills and consolidate your learning.

Our training is informed by our practice, which is rooted in consensus building and stakeholder dialogue. However, we draw on practices and techniques from other approaches and the course includes an overview of the field of participation.
