The Dialogue Matters Team is small but perfectly formed. Diana, our Managing Director, is a Chartered Environmentalist and has a very strong background in stakeholder dialogue and participatory research. We have a core team made up of one Director, a Project Manager, Project Coordinator, a Business Development Manager as well as an Office Manager. We also need to mention Jem, our happiness officer and office dog, who makes sure the atmosphere in the office is just right.
In addition to the core team we are also lucky enough to be able to draw on the knowledge and expertise of a range of associates as and when a project requires it.
Diana has an international reputation and a strong background in stakeholder dialogue and participatory research related to the environment. She has successfully lead on the delivery of over 90 contracts, has trained over 2000 people and provides advice to organisations, governments and UN conventions on good practice participation. An innovator with a solid track record of handling conflicted situations, Diana is also a skilled, engaging trainer. She is a Chartered Environmentalist, an International Union for Conservation of Nature Commissioner and has been Chair of the British Association of Nature Conservationists. Diana is also a keen photographer in her spare time.
Joel’s comprehensive knowledge of environmental challenges and stakeholder participation, his expert research and evaluation skills, and his ability to build rapport across cultures makes him an expert facilitator and project manager. He has prepared, supported and led the delivery of a range of training and workshops since joining Dialogue Matters in 2015. Prior to achieving his degree in Environmental Science, he took part in a coral reef research project in Fiji, and has studied practical conservation management skills. As a keen scuba diver he has a collection of recreational and commercial diving licenses.
Bryony is in the final stages of completing her Masters’ degree in Environmental Psychology; between studies she has supported the delivery of stakeholder workshops and training courses both nationally and internationally. Bryony is particularly skilful at helping events run smoothly through thorough preparation, handling logistics and anticipating and meeting participants’ needs during workshops. With a BSc in Psychology, Bryony enjoys applying both her knowledge and skills to help secure better futures for people and the environment they care about.
Chloe is the latest addition to the Dialogue Matters team, having recently joined us after completing her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology. She has previously worked as an Outdoor Learning Tutor for the Wildlife Trust, and co-founded her own successful outreach programme for Falmouth Marine Conservation Group whilst still at university. As such, Chloe is well-practised in preparing and delivering presentations, communicating with young people, effective time management and organisation. Outside of work, Chloe enjoys sea swimming, scuba diving and has a passion for dance!
Lena is originally from Germany and in true German style likes things tidy and organised. She therefore enjoys making sure the office is running smoothly, helps preparing for events and is the first point of contact for any enquiries. She has a degree in English and Media Studies and has previously worked in online marketing, but has also held various administration roles. With a young son to look after she doesn’t get much spare time but if she does, she likes to bake, walk and talk for hours about her love for greyhounds.
Ross is a career changer bringing more than 10 years of senior leadership and management experience with him to Dialogue Matters. He’s recently completed a Masters’ degree in Sustainability and Adaptation, where he explored solutions to the climate change and biodiversity crises, learning how collaboration and cooperation lead to the most effective outcomes. He enjoys blending his experience and knowledge together to help organisations and companies catalyse change. Outside of work you’ll find Ross with muddy boots, freshly baked bread, and a big smile.
Well-being and productivity officer Jem takes her role very seriously, offering a supportive paw to busy colleagues and encouraging them to eat healthily (preferably something with lots of crumbs). She also believes productivity is significantly improved with exercise and so regularly takes the team out on lunchtime walks.

Lucy has worked with Dialogue Matters since 2006 and is now an Associate, leading on the delivery of training and participative workshops and often working on a number of complex and contentious stakeholder dialogues. Lucy obtained her first degree from Oxford, and went on to post graduate studies in Social Anthropology. She worked for many years as a senior project manager in the corporate events field and as a teacher, both of which have given her strong interpersonal, project administration, management and liaison skills.
Chrissie has worked as a field geologist in the field of sustainable mountain development and has undertaken a PhD in land use visions for rural Scotland.
Lucy Anne is a freelance environmental sustainability tutor, facilitator and consultant, and she has a strong background in environmental sustainability.
